M4 Junction 10/A329M Improvement Scheme - Starts next week
Discussion
I just hope someone with a brain cell has realised that the on slip southbound from the M4 to M329 is not fit for purpose and will extend it about another 200yds at least. its a bloody death trap with all the
'i am indicating ,therefore i CAN cut you up and make you swerve into L2 to allow me in' brigade who not know the basic joining procedure at all.
But i am not holding my breath

I smell a permanent lower speed limit...Seems like a recipe for queues of traffic on the A329M blocking access to the 'improved' junction with the M4

Southbound shouldn't be a problem as generally speaking 'through' traffic stays in the outside lane to avoid people leaving and joining. Seems like a recipe for queues of traffic on the A329M blocking access to the 'improved' junction with the M4
Do anyone know if they are extending these improvements further down the A329M towards Bracknell? The junction which enables cars to access Jennets Park is shocking and constant traffic jams, and people using Jennets Park as a rat run. 2 more big companies have gone into Amen Corner so i can only imagine it will get worse.
totally unimpressed with this.
Left for work yesterday, was 30 minutes later for work ( usually arrive 10 minutes early), I assumed that the fact it was Monday had made things worse.
Left 15 minutes earlier this morning, was STILL 30 minutes late.
1 and a half hours to get from Sandhurst to Theale.
4 months of this.
Deep joy.
Time for a new route.

J10 or even better, cross country. The roads that run just south of the M4 are quite god fun. I used to go that way to visit friends in Calcot.Left for work yesterday, was 30 minutes later for work ( usually arrive 10 minutes early), I assumed that the fact it was Monday had made things worse.

Probably takes longer but a fun route:Head up A327 towards Reading. Turn off for Farley Hill, through Swallowfield. Then you need to cross the A33 and go towards Grazely, and there's a route that follows the M4 (goes past AWE Burghfield), then you end up at Theale.

I'd go towards J10 (A327, Church Lane, Basingstoke Road) but instead of heading onto the M4 at J10, head south on A33 and off at the first junction - Mereoak Lane, Great Lea, Hartley Court Road, Kybes Lane, Pingewood Road South, Amners Farm Road. At T with Burghfield Road go left then 1st right onto Deans Copse Road, right at roundabout onto Hangar Road, over the canal onto Station Road then you are in Theale.
That sounds complicated but mostly you just don't turn off and one road turns into the next.

That's precisely the route I was trying to explain!I'd go towards J10 (A327, Church Lane, Basingstoke Road) but instead of heading onto the M4 at J10, head south on A33 and off at the first junction - Mereoak Lane, Great Lea, Hartley Court Road, Kybes Lane, Pingewood Road South, Amners Farm Road. Actually not quite - I turn left at the roundabout just off A33, then next right; then that takes you round AWE and joins back on Amners Farm Rd.
This route is quicker than the other route, no traffic lights. Also has a few nice twisty bits by Manor Farm.Gassing Station | Thames Valley & Surrey | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
