Looking at maybe going mountain biking up in Swinley Forest this weekend (Saturday).

Anyone got any idea what to expect traffic wise if I aim to leave Staines (driving) by 9am? A quick Google has said that traffic is likely to be pretty bad...

Will be awful. And if you go through in the afternoon you will,be swerving around people so inebriated that that are unable to even stand up. It is like a Canvey Island nightclub at kick out time but everyone is dressed up.

Avoid like the plague.

Gates don't open until 10.30am so 9am on Saturday should be fine. Straight down the A30 or M3 (probably quicker) and up the A322 to Swinley Forest.

Don't bother fighting the traffic all the way to The Lookout., just drive into Bagshot village and park there, then head over the A30 and up Church Road, turning into Vicarage Road, then just carry on down and you are into the forest.
You might want a GPS to find your way over to Swinley centre from there, but IMHO, some of the tracks from Bagshot side are better than those from The Lookout, oh and it's a lot cheaper to park ;-)

Have fun.

This - traffic hasn't been particularly bad this year.

Cheers all.

Used to work for a company that had an office in Bagshot so relatively familiar with the roads - just a bit of a shame i've only recently realised there's good mountain biking right by there as it would have beat nights in the Premier Inn on my own!

Traffic was mad this morning, I had to do the weekly shop and the traffic was back as far as the Waitrose roundabout by 11-ish! WHMBO went out about an hour later and said the roads were totally clear, so I assume once the gates open and the first race starts everyone is in and the local congestion eases until everyone fights to get out again!
