Hello Thames Valley & Surrey forum!

Tomorrow, we are taking some French visitors - (they live in Le Mans) to see Windsor Castle. Which is the best car park for us to use for easy access to the castle?

Thanks. smile

King Edward Court multi story, walk through the station and the castle is right in front of you.

...and whatever you do, don't use the one directly next to the river (near Browns as opposed to behind Browns).

Rip-off private car park that's expensive and they clamp you.

All of the other car parks are fine!

p.s. If you don't like that or it's full then Alma Road surface car park is fine, you walk up the station via a footbridge and then on to the castle. Windsor's not bad for parking actually.

I would park in the home park car park which then gives you a great view of the back of the castle as you walk towards it and then up the hill, you see the round tower.... (As you pass the tower opposite MacDonalds, tell them that until the 1970's there was a tunnel between the castle and the basement in MaccyD's but due to the troubles, it was bricked up.
King Edward car park is good, but expensive..... and don't forget to drop into the 2 brewers for a beer which is at the top of the long walk by the castle (on Park Street)

100% agree with this. avoid it like the plague... they fine you if 1 minute over, if close to the line and have spoiled many a visit to Windsor... and it is expensive

Also worth knowing that they change the Guards on Sat around 10:45 so worth getting there in time to see this. I normally go during the week with the kids smile more details on link below.

If you go in this car park, one of the terraced houses on the right you can see has a blue plaque which signifies it was the home of Sir Sydney Camm... and if you walk right out of the entrance of this car park, across the coach park, you'll see a replica of the plane is is famous for... its very close to the river

If the weather is nice and you are all up for a 30 minute walk then its nice to park by the football pitch at Eton Wick and walk in. Parking there is free but more importantly its a nice walk along the Thames and arrives in Windsor over the bridge from Eton.

biggrinbiglaughbiggrin Ah well that meant you got to see the restored Victorian station, unfortunately it also meant you had to go through Slough! Glad you had a good day.

We live in Mortlake and I discovered that on Sundays and ONLY on Sundays, there's a direct service to Windsor Riverside.

Who'dve thunk it?
