Was just reading that article myself and went to post it on here. Clearly Chertsey is a rough area!

Cant understand why you would just leave it there unless it was stolen. Quite impressive how they have managed to stip quite so much off it

Two things about this

1: owner was a twunt for going through flood and screws motor owing to water ingress
2: oh dear someone stole my car and drove through flood its now fooked
3: Written off anyway, that flood water contained contaminated water and effluent from overflowing pump station (Foul) so its a write off....

I towed my bosses car out of the same road (where the vas is in the first picture), the water was covering the number plate of the RS5 but it only had smashed side windows then. I'm supprised the whole car wasn't taken and was only stripped

Taken from the thread in the General Gassing forum:

This is/was my fathers car. I agree with all your comments but please read on as to why the car was left.

He could see the kerb all the way under the bridge so presumed the water level was low. Half way through the puddle the car stalled, water up the exhaust without high revs, etc. Dad opened the door only for the water to poor in!

He contacted his insurance company immediately who said there is no way they can move or touch the car due to the water being contaminated! They would wait until the water level reduced due to health and safety. Well it has not stopped has it!

We presumed it would be a write off due to the water getting into the electrics etc but waited to hear any news.

Unfortunately the area of Lynne/ Chertesy is renowned for pikies/travellers which thanks to not paying any taxes have bought houses in the area. Word would have spread pretty quickly and Dad went each day to check on the car. He was alerted that the tracker had gone off but then the signal vanished. He went check after that again only for the car to have gone!

It looks like the car was moved into the inlet where it could not be seen. It was then stripped to how you see the pictures now. It is disgraceful but that's life!

If he so wanted to save his car there are plenty of local independants that would have
lifted it or got someone to tow it out with a 4x4
fking idiot for driving through it.
It not as if you cant go the other way round either

Obviously this hasn't come from an official police source if you catch my drift, but I know for a fact he was given recovery details at the time and It seems he chose to leave it.

I wonder how the insurance will react to that fact
