Got a celebration meal for 4 planned for next weekend Sat 8th and need to find a quality restaurant, tried to book in at Stovells in Chobam but that is fully booked until the end of MARCH !!!!!!!!!

And my other favorite, The Mill at Eversley went bust a couple of years ago after a change of ownership in which the service suffered terribly.

I am now fresh out of ideas as I don't eat out that often (the wife's a far better cook than most restaurant fare)......Any recommendations from you guys much appreciated.

Thanks

PS. anybody know when it is going to stop bloody raining!

Ruschetta in Wokingham is an excellent Italian (we are going there tonight for Mrs Lazza's birthday).
The Greyhound in Finchampstead is a very good restaurant too.

Thanks Lazza, hope the missus enjoys her treat.

Greyhound is excellent for a meal I have done it a few times, but I want a bit more upmarket, if you have done Stovells, you will know what I mean!

Thanks

There's a Bel in Windsor too, if that helps? I also like the Riverhouse in Windsor, but it's more of a bar that does nice food than anything too fancy.

Thanks Colin for your thread link, I didn't know there were that many good restaurants in the area, I did the River side arriving via our boat (always good for a giggle) a few years back, don't fancy it much in winter though. Hinds head looks good, didn't know he had more than the Fat Duck which for me is just an exercise in profitering. Royal Oak looks interesting.

Thanks for that, I drive past the gates regularly and often wondered what was up there...... looks promising, and within striking distance for a cab as I think the room rate would kill me for an overnight stay!

There seems to be three places to eat, which have you done, and if it was the Latymer is it really worth the money?

Bel and dragon - decent food, impressive wine list, but service is patchy...the Windsor one is fantastic for service but the reading one we had a bad experience.
Penny hill Park is surely high on the list...

Bluebells on the a30 just outside Sunningdale is supposed to be great

Just to follow up, we had our meal at Ruschetta on Sat. Superb. Quality of food has to be as good as L'Ortolan but with a friendlier and more relaxed atmosphere. The Venison I had was just perfect and Mrs Lazza was very impressed with her rabbit. The red wine was served at the perfect temperature. All in all a very good night out and a perfect birthday meal.
It also gave us an opportunity to try out our (very poor) Italian as all the staff are Italian.
