... it's been fun!

Speed limit is now 30 from the end of the houses at the Pirbright end (which is still 40!) until half a mile after the railway bridge. I know a reasonable volume of people have had offs along there - but the answer surely is to tackle the cause of the (mostly) single car incidents.

30 seems stupidly slow on the well sighted parts - mixed with the insanity of being able to go faster past all the houses rolleyes

Hopefully they've got some money left over to fill in the potholes along Deepcut Bridge Road / Maultway.

Sounds to me like he's saying it's going to be too slow along most of the road while still being too fast past the houses. That's the way I read it anyway.

Hey Dizeee - not at all smile So, coming from Pirbright - the section past the cottages is still 40 (bizarrely as this is what I was expecting to drop first), and where it used to rise to national speed limit going towards Frimley / Deepcut, it now drops 30mph all the way to 1/2 mile past the railway bridge.

@ MX-5 - I think I've poorly worded it. 30mph bit in the sticks = bad. 40mph bit past the houses, madness in context of 30mph through the sticks!

That is what I thought too - but it appeared it was 30 from just past the golf club, to 1/2 a mile past the bridge. I'll do another recce tonight on route home. Watch out for me ambling slowly past in my car wink

Not a huge surprise, every time I've been down that road I've seen flowers at the side of the road..

I don't think a physcial signage change is going to make a single bit of difference. I drive those roads regularly and late last night did Fox Corner - Pirbright - Gole road/houses on left - Frimley Green. I drove past the houses sensibly and then just drove the rest quickly but as I saw fit and within my and my car's limits.

Perhaps a speed bump either side of the houses will suffice, a bit like they have on the approach to the houses down cemetry pales road. That way the increased noise is kept away from the houses and the run along the houses is so short that you can barely get any speed up anyway.

I'll be sticking to the limits, not worth a chat with the local friendly plod. Not a surprise if they closely police it for a while.

Just glad I got in 6 months of unabashed fun in my commute before it got changed smile I'll be the chap ambling along slowly in a very dirty grey V8 Vantage wink

Hopefully it will deliver a safer road, save a few people from themselves and slow people down past the cottages at either end.

If people can't judge if their going to fast for the bends. I can't see a few signs will slow them down

Surely that signage cant be right if it's now showing 30 everywhere but still 40 past the houses confused It's meant to be the other way round isn't it? I guess it wouldn't be the first time for the contractors to put up the signs in the wrong place laugh

30 seems more than sensible past the houses / past the bit near the Golf course, as it's 30 in the rest of the residential bits of Pirbright anyway, so why not there? smile

Although how many people will adhere to it all is another matter I guess. Judging by how many people I've encountered over the years that either can't drive them sensibly without cutting corners, speeding, etc, married in with the number of times you see the Police tape, flowers, debris where a car has gone off on a relatively easy to navigate road, makes you realise it sadly wont slow those people down frown

I've been to quite a few accidents down there, a few of them fatalities. One in particular is very memorable, 4 dead, 2 of them missing the tops of their heads. Its a quick road, but get it wrong and the car meets an immoveable tree.

The times that I use it, I barely get to 60 anyway due to traffic.

Signs are all over the place - it is still national speed limit heading out from the golf course towards Frimley, but 30 heading back in.

Only slightly confusing then, but I did manage not to come off the road during either trip today, so it must be working - result ! smile

I just did Pirbright/Brook wood to Frimley Green. I can't see any signage changes.

As others have said, I doubt it will have any effect on the people it is being aimed at frown I've lost count of the number of times that I've driven past those cottages at the speed limit but still had idiots inches from my bumper. I would imagine anyone that drives like that is more than likely to misjudge it on the bends and have an off.

Maybe if I was driving a tank , however I would rather not test their reaction speed with the back of my car.
