"Minor Disruption" that was the actual phrase used in the consultation meeting.

I don't think they realised what closing 2 lanes of the A30 in Bagshot would actually do, which amazes me because it seems fking obvious to most people that if you do that on a quiet road then the traffic would be pretty bad, if you do it on one of the main local arteries then the effect will be quite stonkingly bad.

Pillocks!

The other choice is constant disruption to water supply and damage to road during a burst.
This is a project to replace a vital 400mm dia feed main for the area.
Unless you can think of another way to maintain the supply for the next 100 years.
Anyway it keeps us Utility Contractors in work wink

Yep, i wonder what sways your opinion on that, it's a bloody long drive for you from your depo as well. hehe

No issue with the works being done, just the fking awful traffic management. There was still traffic queuing to the Longacres Roundabout at 20:00 last night.

If i lose the internet i might have issues.

But i do not have a problem with the work going ahead. i lived by the Mogul for years i know what the issues are but it is the way they have managed the lane closure. There was traffic up to my current place on the Maultway before 7 this morning, if it gets much worse you will be queuing to get into your yard in the same traffic (well, nearly, ok maybe about 1/2 a mile from it)

That is about the only section of the A30 in the village that they can run with one lane closed and a lane running each way.
As well as specifically telling the local residents they would not go to a 1 way traffic managed lane on that section, and that they would not do it at all until absolutely essential they have put a pigs ear of a system in.
And stating that every effort would be made to minimise the disruption as it is a major route and yet last night there were three lads trying to set up the traffic lights just before rush hour, they had all day to get it sorted.
And as my commute takes me along the entire 12-18months worth of work scheduled i expect that at some point i will have no choice but to queue, but even you must admit they have fked it good and proper on their first attempt.

It took nearly 90 minutes to get from Sunningdale to the BP last night, 45mins to go from Longacres to Church Road. Ricki, that is st no matter how you spin it.

Ha Ha avoid the area smile people will get used to it and its been advertised on street boards for a few months.
Traffic Management has been brought in because the average dumm ass car drivers cannot
read the road and adapt to the conditions where road works are in place.
Its called NRSWA yes its a pain but was brought in on safety grounds.
The work is supposed to completed middle of this year.
It can last for years £££ plenty to be earnt smile

omgus - like you, I live in the middle of the village - couldn't believe the queues last night!

I'm really looking forward to when they start the water main replacement in Lightwater, as well as the M3 managed motorway works - all due to happen at the same time.

It's only going to get worse frown

I wondered why it was queuing when I looked in that direction this morning and only just realised it was due to the roadworks.

Seems quite a few people aren't happy based on the GetSurrey website write up on it - http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/local-news/roadwor...

(Makes mental note to self not to drive anywhere in that direction unless I really have to)

For those of us coming out of Camberley, that route isn't so great in fact it was utterly horrific this morning, queues going along upper Chobham road, down prior road to the Ravenswood roundabout at 7:30 this morning. Cutting across to the Maultway and the queue was stretching back to Deepcut. There is no way this can go on for 6 months.

  • edited as I realise you are talking about travelling into Camberley

35 minutes to get from Deepcut Bridge road to the end of the Red Road this morning - ouch. Normally 5 minutes!

Yeah he would be the first to be complaining if he had no water for his morning tea, what a muppet.
Another non related issue to Bagshot site.

Cleaning of Deep Trunk Sewer in a London Borough.
Shopkeepers moaning about disruption during the day - so why not work nights.
Night shift - local residents moaning about noise and flood lights, why cant this be done during the day....
Locals complaining about, flooding & smell why cant they fix the sewers, well open your eyes "They" are but everyone keeps complaining....
Well your always on a hiding to nothing - fk em all just get on with the job and keep the £££
flooding in smile

Rick we're not having a go at you, everyone who lives locally knows it needs to be done. It's the management of the traffic that's fking us off.

By April the A30, Lightwater and the M3 will all have serious works going at the same time, but even at the minute with just one of them being done the whole area is fked. And in return we got a Twitter feed?

Although i completely agree about the little bds walking to school. The only time i ever got a lift was when i was going to the Doctors or in serious bloody trouble.

I know mate. smile

But this is essential works
I would rather have clean and reliable drinking water than some madcap scheme.
Anyway when most of that main was laid 80 years ago the A30 was not as wide as the present day road
resulting in some of that main now being under tarmac.

With regard the M3 works which will make litte difference except £140m less which could be spent on local road maintainance. Leave the M3 alone it works, just some s cannot grasp the basics of motorway driving.
Don't get me started on that road .......

be thankful your not on that route now.
Apparently the A30 is closed Northbound at Frimley Road, and M3 is buggered in the opposite direction...

Thoughts with those affected (directly or otherwise) by the incidents...

I have to do two trips to knoll rd tomorrow. One about 09.00 , the other about 14.30, both from the meadows. Does the traffic going into bagshot back up that far?
