There's a similar scheme in Hampshire, but it runs all year round. They just like to promote it a little more at xmas-time.

I guess it's effective Policing, last years figure they quote are 6585 tests, 278 arrests = 4.2% of those tested arrested. Says to me that the message is generally hitting home.

I work in Weybridge and the Police have been out in force in the mornings breathalising people after the night before.

I haven't been done as they seem to be concentrating in the town area and just on the edge of Addlestone and Chertsey; I come in from Guildford on the A3 at Cobham and haven't seen any random stops however two of my colleagues, who live in the area have been done. Fortunately they were clear but a gentleman was arrested for being over when one of my colleagues was stopped last week.
