We are going, went a few years ago when a stage was in the woods opposite but that doesnt seem to be on there this time.

We will be heading over in the afternoon for the Warren Forest stages near Blackbushe airport.

As regards tips when using a camera, guess it depends what type of camera you have. Will be pretty hopeless with a compact, but with an SLR I found it best to set it on aperture priority and then experiment. Start with a shutter speed of around 1/500th of a second and experiment based on the results you then get. If you find your photos are coming out too dark, try increasing the ISO althought that will add grain. Pre focus by depressing shutter halfway down and then pan with the camera when the car comes along and try and fully depress the shutter when the car gets to that point.

You can move about between cars within reason so if you want to change to a better spot that is usually fine you just have to listen out for any incoming cars and get out of the way sharpish!

Cheers pk, I've a Canon Eos (albeit an oldish one) with a 75-300 lens...
Just had a look at the entry list, looks like it could be fun.

I am going to go to the usual spot on the roads by Pirbright/Mytchett and hope for the best. Last year I was given the stage times so eagerly await another text!

As a live spectator sport, it's not my thing but I've been able to hear it quite plainly for the last hour from my back garden.

Apart from being bloody cold due to a strong wind, we had a great time. Saw the 2wd and 4wd cars all go through, was dark by the time the 2wd came past.

Made me hanker for my old Mk2 Escort frown

Will try and get some photos up later

Down by the Pirbright-Mytchett bit you got the jump and the slow kink. There were reports of 2 rollers just beyond there. I did about an hour from just past 11 and the weather was fine.

Well spent a few hours this afternoon cleaning the gravel/sand which was half an inch thick in my wheelarches off the car. God does that stuff stick and I only drove slowly over it to the car park yesterday. Then spent an hour trying to literally shovel the sand/gravel off my drive as the hose wouldnt wash it off there was so much!

A few photos from yesterday..

Did you come over the railway bridge? A D4 by the gate?
You could see the smoke/steam from the first 'off' from there.

I didn't see the incidents or the aftermath myself as I came in from Frimley Green Harvester side and after watching carried on through Brookwood. I heard that there were very few cars through after those incidents - stage closed perhaps?

Sorry, I wasn't very clear there. I was working as a radio op on that stage and wondered if you'd come into the stage that way over the bridge.

If you were closer to the start then you may have been at the chicane over the railway tunnel or the jump perhaps?

ETA; we had a total of nearly an hour delay from 3 incidents which meant the cancellation of the second 2wd run through (SS26)

I came a different way in - under the bridge then right at the junction up the hill. I was watching from the chicane-jump stretch which I think is shortly after the start.

Gotcha - yes we were much further in and only 1/2 mile from the finish.
