'Twas a joke. Took me 50mins to cross Reading. Not helped by Cow Lane bridges temp lights only going green for 7 seconds from the Tilehurst end so it was a mare trying to get on the Oxford Road. Then I got stuck on the A33 due to the cones issue on the A329. Still, could have been worse. Took a mate 4 hrs to get from Wootten Bassett to Bracknell.

Yesterday I tried to leave Lower Earley at 7.15am and these roadworks were already causing tailbacks off the 329M, back through Winnersh Triangle, and past the cinema complex at Loddon Bridge onto the Lower Earley Way.
So, I left at 7:05 this morning and it was even worse!!!!
I'm going to be WFH up to about 9.30 each morning until this lot has finished.

Which is great, as long as you ignore the Single alternate line of traffic during the day for resurfacing for a week (by Rackstraws) and 5 weeks of the same whilst they fix a water main in Sandhurst AND I'm told theirs new works appeared along the a331 nr Sainsburys.
The local roads are a fking joke

Yep this is true, they reappeared en-masse yesterday with a big digger, tipper truck, etc and are still there today frown

That stretch of the BV is now down to 1 lane again from just after the traffic lights off The Meadows roundabout, out all the way to just past the business Park, and therefore some nice queuing traffic all the way back to The Meadows roundabout banghead

Made worse around 1PM today as when I passed, it looked like somebody had rear-ended an Audi S4 Avant that was in front of them at the Business Park lights, so traffic was attempting to go around the cones slalom style to avoid them. Not sure why they couldn't have moved into the Business Park or Sainsbury's to swap details.

Wow - they have 8 men working full time during the day on this, glad to see they are really trying hard to minimise the impact !

The bad news is this 2 week disruption is merely a precursor to an even bigger 2-3 month disruption in the new year.

Exactly

I came back along the M4 late last Tuesday and they had reduced both sides to one lane with cones. Couldnt see anyone working...WTF

Reading has been really busy past 2 days, why couldn't they have done this over the summer?

They can't do it then as they're all taking their compulsory holiday entitlements...

Reading has had re-surfacing work going on all over the place around the university area all over the summer. They seem to only have one team and they are gradually (read "slowly") getting all the work done.
Items in this article made me ROFL this morning http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-246... What a bunch of dipsticks!! Anyone who knows this junction will wonder why they have cones on the slip road to the Bracknell bound carriageway.

That slip isn't as bad (read dangerous)as the M4-A329(M) southbound. The buggers on that do not check traffic already on the A329 and just pull out, made worse by the fact that this must have the shortest slip road on the whole of the motorway network. There is enough room to extend the on slip a couple of hundred yard so they can merge ( sorry thats a word/action the majority of UK drivers do not understand) a bit more safely

Re the Rackstraws roadworks
I herad that the whole of the road would be closed from just south ofthe junction with Owlsmoor Rd to north of the Olsmoor roundabout. eg Owlsmoor road IS the diversion!!
I will check on Friday as the office gets all the road closure notices.

The winnersh junc getting onto the 329m in the morning at 6.30 ish is a joke
The highway wombles seem to have no clue in traffic flow there is no need to come off both lanes on the slipway
And they cone off 100+ yards after where there working
Total joke !!!!

Think the biggest joke is the Bracknell twin bridge roundabout ,if you now go to towards sand hurst it goes 2lanes down to 1 then back to 2lanes all in space of 30yards

What are these planners thinking a 10yr old could do a better job

Onyx, sorry i understood tht as well, but as me and the bus use that route regularly it is going to bugger me up for that week

Paul. Are you referring to the exit from th Roundabout onto Mill Lane?
Unless they repaint the lanes going into it it is going to cause a lot of grief. I think it is being done so the traffic from under the bridge doesnt clog up the flow round to the A329like now, but it wont stop the aholes who dont read/understand lane markings and will just drive round it like they do now
And on other point. The local rag, IIRC, said the portion btween Tin Bridges and the 'Harvester' roundabout was to be a dual or four lane carriagway. From what i can make up we have had months of disreuption for absolutey fk all difference, except the merge points have been moved about 50ft!!
The road planners who thought that up ought to be shot. or not be paid!!

Meant the exit by the downshire arms to go towards sand hurst etc
Not helping traffic flow making it worse
