M4 jct 11 roundabout
Discussion
Have now seen it all ,
lunchtime today some silly old sod in his Fiesta managed to get onto the roundabout ,going the wrong way !
I suspect he accessed it from the A33 direction , and just turned right.
Given the speed that cars can circumnavigate that area it is incredible there was not one collision.

I see this every day when going to work. Such an amazing festival of incompetence! Apparently, people can't read signs and wait until the last minute to cut someone up and pick their lane. It's not just women in hatchbacks too, massive trucks seem to do this on a daily basis. Then there's the people blocking the road by parking on the yellow hatches so that when the lights change no one can come out.
New job soon though meaning I will no longer be subjected by the stty Reading road systems! WOO!

The biggest risk I see on that roundabout is people going straight on from the mandatory left turn lane when going south from Reading onto the M4 Eastbound. Since the next lane can also optionally turn left, near misses are quite common as the inside vehicle ploughs straight on, maybe indicating right 10 milliseconds before doing so, if you're lucky.

I forgot about that one! I normally try and regulate my speed so I pass that point with no one next to me. Normally meaning booting it away from the previous lights. The bus lanes are fun there as well, dont think I've ever seen a single bus on them.
Having used this roundabout for the last 10 years I think since the renovation it has confused the brain dead even more.
Just today heading out of Reading to go straight on, onto the A33, the women in her full school wagon, in the far left lane, decided she wanted to go east on the M4 instead.
How the artic missed her I do not know, although the noise and smoke from the brakes was not louder than his thoughts on the matter.

Completely agree. Since the renovation, this roundabout is an absolute dream for anyone with an iota of common sense and directional awareness. Simply get under the sign that says where you want to go, and follow the white lines round and off.Just today heading out of Reading to go straight on, onto the A33, the women in her full school wagon, in the far left lane, decided she wanted to go east on the M4 instead.

So many people seem completely incapable of any type of forward planning.
i used to use that roundabout every day between 2003 - 2008
not really touched it since then, but started using it regularly
the old little road that the buses now use seems so quaint!
I agree with it being easy to use, just get under the sign that's correct and follow away
I come up from Basingstoke direction and head towards London, that is 1000 times better than it used to be

As others have said, unbelievably simple until some twonk decides to ignore the signs and roadmarkings...
Also those that jump redlights and sit in the KEEP CLEAR signs.
Was waiting to join from Whitley Wood Way to head towards Newbury on the M4. Bloke next to me pulled away after the lights turned amber, I started to move once green....lass in a Saab coming from the right then slams on the brakes to avoid side swiping the other guy and stops smack in the middle of the Keep clear area, blocking me completely. Given the timings and distance of the lights, she'd quite clearly jumped a Red in her desperation to join the M4 London bound........
