Anyone stayed here or tried the restaurant/bar? Looks good on the website, but reviews seem a bit mixed.

I'm looking for a nice hotel reasonably local to take the girlfriend to for dinner and night away. Other suggestions are welcome.

If you want other suggestions try Pennyhill Park for a spa break or one of the McDonald hotels eg Berystede or Savill Court.

Friends suggest food and cocktails are very good at the Aviator, it's not a cheap place to stay though. Audleys Wood nr. Basingstoke (25 min drive from Farnborough) is very nice with a cracking restaurant and decent accomodation. Ditto Savill court (same small chain as Audleys Wood), nice accomodation, restaurant not as good IMO - but plenty of eateries within striking distance in Windsor.

The rooms there are nice, we had our Christmas do there a couple of years ago.

The food at The Aviator is really excellent, as is the service. Can't comment on the rooms.

Aviator: Ultra modern, over-styled, over-priced. Food ok, service mediocre at best and the rooms are expensive for what they are. Relies heavily on weddings at weekends and business clients during the week, i.e. it's not a 'destination venue'.

All IMHO of course. smile
