Seen today at B&Q end of the A33.A white unmarked 'V' reg sprinter van with a white box on the roof, which is an aircon unit with another hatch with camaras hanging off the roof too. There is a small scamera sticker on the rear near side door and two people in dayglo jackets in it.Are these b&sts running out of other places to trap people?

Seeing as the A33 is a 40mph dual carriageway there it's probably a prime target. In the week the road is used mainly by those very familiar with it and the traffic normally flows pretty safely well above the limit.

Sound like those b&sts were doing ANPR. You obviously don't approve!

However.
1.No ANPR/safety camera van in TVP is as old as 'V'
2. Police ANPR/safety cameras do not 'Hang off the roof'

So your assumption/paranoia is completely wrong!

So why would it have a scamera sticker on it then?

i saw a van like that on the M4 junction it was parked in the layby with its cameras pointing at the traffic lights more than likey a traffic survey van as there have been alot of traffic problems on that jusnction lately, there were no police around to catch anyone speeding if it was a scamera van or ANPR,

Strange - although it does smell of council rather than Scameraship...No point them having old vans when they can buy new ones every year with their ill-gotten funds (and all in the name of safety).

I'll look out for this one, and post pics if I see it!

PS,When you pass one, don't talk or smile. they can read your dental profile and have 6 mths worth of fines waiting at you dentist. I change dental plates and my dentist twice yearly to avoid the paranoia.

Heard (accidentally) on local radio last night that the police vans on the Kings Rd are being replaced by camera equipped Police bikes to catch compulsive criminals breaking the law (or more likely drivers exceeding 30mph).

Yep - just read this in the local free rag.

The reason is that the new no17 'superbuses' could not use the bus stops when the vans were parked there.

Unfortunately they've decided that money must still be raised, so it's £24,000 per bike and they're arriving now.

Saturday morning is the time to be most aware of them!
