It's closed Southbound from Guildford for repairs, but this is having a knock on effect further back and its dreadful coming south from J10 of the M25

Avoid if possible

It looks like a nightmare, they are now closing it from junction 10 to try and relieve the traffic. Guildford town is also very bad as people are still trying to get on the A3, despite this being advertised weeks ago.

To be fair, it wasn't well advertised on the M25 this morning at 7am.

I lead a convoy out this morning down through the Hindhead tunnel and found out last night that the A3 was going to be closed at Guildford so I had to re-plan my route. I joined the M25 a J12 (M3) and was heading to our meeting point just off J10. I saw two overhead gantries at J11 saying that the A3 was closed, but the ones approaching J10 were blank, I made a comment at the time that they should be a message on them otherwise it would cause mayhem.

I headed around M25 from M3 to A3 Sun morning at 7am to join Planet Claire's drive and can confirm that there was only one sign showing the A3 closure at that time.

It was a monumental cock up by the HA, which will be fed back, but I doubt anything will change

What is the situation there on-going and tonight? I can't seem to find any info. I drove one junction northbound last night from the hospital to Ladymead and it was all ok. I am coming from the M25 to the hospital junction again this early evening.

From what I remember from the SurreyCC website it was only from Saturday night to this Monday morning.

I would try and check whether it is ongoing work over a series of weekends because I saw a gantry a couple of weeks ago saying the A3 was closed southbound (on that day), which made me check out travel arrangements for my drive yesterday.

There was a small extra sign next to the main closure sign at stoke saying something like and mon 10pm till something but as it was so small I couldn't read it fully.

Check out Surrey's website for distruptions: http://travel.surreycc.gov.uk/network.aspx

This is also good for roadworks: http://roadworks.org/

It was on the BBC News website, under the Surrey section when you look at SE England news. Lucky I was out of the country.

Was driving in the other direction on Sunday morning. Calculated a 7-mile tail-back
