Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a place reasonably locally who can refurbish my Mondeo's 18 inch wheels?

Also I'm wondering about the logistics of it all - I assume they'll need the wheels for a few days to do a proper job. I need my car, I don't have access to another car, and nor do I have a set of spare wheels. How do people normally work this?

Also any ballpark figures of cost would be appreciated.

Cheers all.

I use Martin's Tyres in West End, they have them collected / delivered Mondays / Thursdays charge about £65 each if I remebers. They do a good job.

Two choices really, Take them off at home, hire a car for a few days. Affordable rentals in Bisley
Or get another set off ebay or local breakers to tide you over, sell on via eBay after.

Or even keep to use with winter tyres

Martin's do that?! I've been going to them for tyres for years but didn't realise that!

Thanks. I'll look into the car hire option but it's so expensive in this country :/

I've used www.wheelsapproved.co.uk in Woking a few times and have been very pleased with the results. Not sure if they have loan wheels.

If you don't mind travelling a bit, these guys did an absolutely amazing job on my wheels:

I bought some second hand curbed wheels on Ebay, and they stripped them, removed all the imperfections, powder coated, and sprayed them in the exact colour I wanted. Amazing job.

Howard,

May be able to help with this...We've done a fair few refurbs inc the more complicated split rims. To do the level of work on 18's (Assuming they're not Diamond cut either) I'd budget between £275-£300 for a decent finish that will at least be a good durable/long lasting finish too seeing as it's your daily. We tend to strip back the wheels completely and start again so it's ultimately done right as naturally you don't want to make a habit of refurbing them yes

Hope that helps!
U

No....Just No!

As someone else wrote.

The Wheel Wizard, now in Cobham instead of West Byfleet but very good. Also next door is an indy Aston Service centre so lots of stuff to drool over biggrin

BJV are also very good. I've used all 3 companies on more than one occasion. BJV do come and collect your wheels, that said Wheel Wizard do loaner wheels so you can keep driving although its an added cost.
