tell me about banbury

not sure if banbury counts as thames valley but if so!:

whats banbury like? - job offer has come up there - looking for a nice village with lovely primary school oxford side that we can get to banbury easily with. looking at up to 500-550k and want old style not new pref village pub and nice area to bring up daughter - any suggestions?

is there much of a web / it / start up community in banbury / oxfordshire?

i presume its good for car stuff

Banbury is pretty much the most average place you could find. It's a small town, decent range of high street shops but not much more.

You should be able to find something nice in the surrounding villages for that money. I'd look at living on whichever side of town you'd be working on as crossing the town centre can be a chore at peak times.

No idea about the IT world, but it's ok for cars. Some reasonable roads about and Silverstone is about 20min away.

thanks just looked a house in one village and discovered the lotus f1 team tech centre is down the road! i could get to like the area!

Yep, plenty of racing around here. Lotus and Caterham to the south west, Mercedes and Force India to the east and Marussia in the town itself. Then there is Prodrive etc etc etc...

I live in prob the "best" of the villages south of Banbury.... Yup maybe a bit biased but been here for 10 years or so and have done and still doing schools and pubs as often as possible.

I live just over 10 mins outside of Banbury in a small village, if I can help it I'll avoid Banbury and certainly never shop there as the High Street is pretty poor. Again, if you need any advice on surrounding villages feel free to ask.

Places like Deddington, Kings Sutton, Aynho are close and desirable.

Out of interest Jimbo, which village are you in, PM if you'd rather not say on here?
