I haven't been over there since they changed it around creating the blue & red routes. I often used to cycle there from Finchampstead, through Crowthorne and into Swinley Forest via The Devils Highway then make my way down to The Lookout to meet friends. Is this still a viable option or will I get jumped on by Adolf Warden for riding off the official track? I don't want to have to drive there and hate cycling on the road.

Nope, you can ride whereever you like if you want. The tracks are good but narrow and some of the old ones you used may be been flattened in making the new ones.

I went over there last night, cycled from the American Golf and cut across country...when we eventually found our way.
I was surprised how busy with serious bikers it was, even on a tuesday evening.
I didn't use any of the tracks though, just the main routes as a leisurly ride.

Went over there this evening. I have to say, they've done a damn good job! The blue route is fun and the red route adds enough of a challenge to make it worthwhile.

I went last weekend for the first time and was pretty impressed with the blue run, although did get lost a couple of times when you pop out onto one of the fire roads and couldn't see which way to go!

Anyone up for a ride over the weekend or after work next week?

Didn't you try the red run Mr C? I thought it was pretty good but not really difficult. There are a lot more roots & loose stones/gravel to contend with but no worse that I was riding on before they created these new routes.

I could be up for a Sunday run, as long as you aren't one of these lycra-clad maniacs going at 100 leptons as I'm not as young as I used to be and my bike isn't a lot younger laugh

It is a big change from the old trails, but I quite like it!

Here is my second effort at the blue loop - excuse the heavy breathing.......I have ridden the red but not taken a video yet, hope to do that in the next few weeks.

I haven't been over there since the routes went in but i reckon i might be up for that, it would be interesting to see how unfit i really am at the minute.

I could be up for this too, if only for the comedy value of gus doing some exercise hehe

(I'm not pushing him home when he gets knackered, or his bike)

Didn't have time to do the red run last weekend (read "I was knackered") but having stupidly agreed to go to the alps in July with a few mates, I definitely need to get my fitness up!

So.. Sunday morning?? Some strategic fag breaks for Gus, so long as I can eat my way through a packet of MrKipling at each stop!

Good for me.
Paul meet at the bottom of your road at about 9:45 for a leisurely ride across?

I might get a last minute reprieve but at the moment it doesn't look like I'll be there frown
