On Saturday, my Cayenne decided to snap it's belt. Trying to steer a 2.5t car with no power steering was certainly interesting!

Since a single belt drives everything (8 pulleys including the tensioner), I had to get the car recovered because although I wasn't too far from home it heated up faster than my kettle does.

Replacing the belt doesn't look terribly hard, however it took one of the pulleys with it and I cannot get the remains of the pulley off. I've finally given up, and it will need to go to the professionals.

My insurers used Ravenscroft to recover me home. I want the car taken down to Horley (from Camberley) so roughly 45 miles. The driver that brought me home reckoned I'd be looking at around £100 to get it there if they did it.

Any other recommendations?

Really? I guess getting a car transported is more expensive than I assumed! It was a guess from the driver so might have been more if I'd actually booked.

It's sorted now - the company my mechanics use will collect it tomorrow morning. Given the way I feel about the car right now, I'd be as happy for them to take it to Beachy Head and unload it over the edge!

It probably would if I smashed it into tiny little bits. Which I'm tempted to!

6 Legger Grab Truck will take care of it.
Easy to load as well and if it sticks up a bit high - well just bash the lid down a bit smile

My mate has a recovery truck;

Not sure if a Cayenne is too big though, worth an email.

Has transported a few PHers cars before.

Thanks, but it's now at the garage. Was kind of hoping they'd get lost on the way......

Should get a call this afternoon with some idea of what the damage (to my wallet) is likely to be.
