Last time I was there it was a typical airfield i.e not a perfect surface but no potholes and not too rough. Fine for a track day.

Is anyone here who is going to this Abingdon day who would be able to carry 4 MX5 wheels/tyres (195/50/15) in their car from Wokingham?

Our track car (Mk1 MX5) will be going but the track tyres are currently not road legal and it's hard to carry 4 wheels in an MX5 (or in 2 MX5s for that matter). Any help would be most appreciated smile

That would be good of you mate. You are in an MX5 too though so won't have a lot of spare space. I'll give you a shout nearer the time if I still need help then.

Until that time, if someone with a bigger car can offer help I'd be most grateful smile

If you don't mind running them up there beforehand your welcome to store them in my room on camp untill the day if you can't find a way of getting them up there on the day.

I saw and thought maybe as I went a couple of years ago and had, but the organisers gave me loads of hassle re: the noise limits *
And the coned chicane set up at the far side really didn't suit my big beastie, but still had fun anyways..

  • (before booking I called and checked to see what they measured at, as I don't rev my V8 past 5.5K revs, and they said no worries, they'll test me at 2/3 of max revs, about 3-3.5k rpm which I know is around 98db. Yet on the day insisted on 4.5k revs measured, which of course I failed.... much complaining and re-testing by the boss got me out on track but it was an avoidable hassle)

That was a great day! We were really lucky with the weather, it started wet but stopped raining in the morning and the track was pretty much bone dry after lunch.
The track layout was fun and the driving standards on the day were very good with nobody doing anything stupid. IMO these MSE track days are the best run days I've been on with firm but good humoured marshalling, pretty much the same standard as Lotus on Track.

Did anyone take any pictures or video? I forgot to do either. My mates in our track car had some video, I'll post some links up here when they are processed.
