Got some stills from a film here and have been told it was filmed in Guildford? Any Surrey PHers recognise any of the buildings?

Sign says REGISTRARS - real or not I don't know ...

Sign in the background says (I think) GAZES Craftsmen of Distinction

If anyone can confirm Guildford the superb - realise the place m ight have changed heavily - I know the centre has been much changed ...

Having been brought up in Farnham (9 miles away) i do recognise images 4,5 & 6 downwards and in my opinion would say this is Guildford.

Great photos btw.

Cheers - any ideas where though in Guildford? Or has it all been flattened and developed?

I really hate to tell you this but that is Kingston upon Thames.
It's Kingston Guildhall and the surrounding area. The photo of the guy on the scooter going down the alley was taken in Bath Passage, which runs up the side of Kingston Magistrates Court nowadays. I'm afraid the only thing left standing in the photo's is the Guildhall, everything else has been demolished and replaced with modern office buildings!

Hope this is of some help.

Don't hate to tell me this - that is great news!

Many thanks for the info ... when I was on the search for this location, I was told it was Guildford, but there was a refernce in one of the pics to Eden Street - which I believe is in central Kingston ... but when viewed on Google earth, the whole thing had been redeveloped so I never took it any further and so believed it to be Guildford maybe - well, that is what I was told.

Off to search - cheers!

Glad to be of help.
Eden Street begins just by the Guildhall, so that would make sense.

Yep, it's Kingston alright - not that you'd know it now as most of those buildings went years ago.

Cheers - but still enough there for there to be some great comparison shots from Google Streetview - and I'll post some when I get a minute. There are others I have from around those parts so if you've got nothing better to do kingston12, you might be able to identify where they are - although I know most of Kingston centre has been redone over the years - one look on Google Earth shows that ... all the new developments.

I'd be interested to see more if you have them. The town has changed a lot over the years, but there is a great deal that remains intact.
