Blackhorse Road (Brookwood) Ice Rink this morning

Had a huge moment exiting the tunnel in Blackhorse Road this morning, the road surface was iced over and made any kind of steering impossible. Luckily for me, the cars that would normally have been queuing on that part of the road had seen an earlier accident and had left a nice big gap into which I slid Apparently there were 8 accidents there (one involving a friend of ours) at which point the BiB closed the road

Our friend said the police were great, so I just wanted to pass her thanks along if any of you are on here. I informed the highways agency and hopefully they will make sure it is gritted in the future but I thought it was worth warning the locals on here to be careful.

The water in the tunnel hasn't been draining lately (often floods with heavy rain), probably the drains are blocked. So it is no surprise is was iced over - lucky you avoided a bingle!

The gritters don't always drive down the road, and with snowfall they are usually busy with all the major routes so it gets left untouched.
