Hi all

I'm a long time lurker. I should have introduced sooner really but here is my first post. I was wondering if you guys/gals could recommend a pub I could take my girlfriend to this Sunday. She's been working 7 days a week for months now and we thought it would be nice to get a good meal in us on her first Sunday off in ages.

Can you guys recommend anywhere? Preferably with a fireplace. She likes the cosy, christmassy feeling.

EDIT (Forgot to put location): I live in West London but my girlfriend lives in Sutton. We'll be going from her place but we don't mind a drive so anywhere in Surrey or outside South West London would be great.

Last Sunday we had a family lunch at the Frog and Wickett in Eversly.

The food and service was fantastic. Good Christmas decorations and a
nice log burner on the go.

You don't give an indication of whereabouts you want to go, but as you are in West London you could fly down the A3 and try here - http://www.tobycottage.co.uk/

Not a pub, but in a nice village, with a tiny bar upstairs for pre lunch drinks and a quick perusal of the days menu. Only one sitting, so nice and relaxed and surprisingly good value for money.

If it is a pub you are after, try here - http://onslowarmsclandon.com/

Not far from the restaurant above, the place does very litle wrong.

You will probably need to book for both, but definately for Toby Cottage.

Oh, good point! Sorry about that, I live in West London but my girlfriend lives in Sutton. We'll be going from her place but we don't mind a drive so anywhere in Surrey or outside South West London would be great.

I'll look into those you both suggested.

The Withies in Compton (just south of Guildford) is quite cosy. Not the cheapest, but great food and ales.

Agreed on the Withies - its just A) difficult to find and B) difficult to get into when you find it!
