I was stuck in the traffic just up the hill from the accident but having driven through the debris I'm glad I wasn't near enough to be able to see anything. That's the worst accident I've ever seen by a long way. From reports I've heard, a lorry hit a bridge and overturned but in reality it looked more like it disintegrated! The rear wheels and rear chassis was on the outside barrier. 20 feet ahead in the left hand lane was half of the engine & gearbox. It looked like the other half of the engine was in the middle lane another 15 feet ahead. There was little left of the cabin that I could see.
While I driving past along the path that had been cleared through the debris they were putting some sight-screens around a tarpaulin on the road near what I assume was part of the cabin.

While I was a little irritated to be sat in my car for nearly 2 hours I'm just glad to now be home safe and in one piece. I would say that I hope the driver was ok but I can't see how anyone could survive that. I just hope that there weren't any other people who got caught in the accident.

My thoughts go out to anyone involved, the families and also to those who had to attend the scene. It was bad enough driving past.

Very glad I dived down the A1M instead of sticking with the M25. Sounds very nasty.

Sounds like idiot rubber-neckers have caused an accident in the other carriageway.
It would be a very good idea to avoid that area tonight if possible.

I think the whole M25 is stopped at the moment looking at some ofthe travel maps. My mechanic was 100yds behind the lorry when it hit the bridge and said it was horrible to see, there was a bodybag placed in the middle of the motorway earlier frown

We should all be grateful for making it home tonight.

Does anyone have any details about this? Obviously the lorry driver didn't survive but judging by the amount and spread of debris I can't believe that nobody else was caught up in the accident.
I'm not after gory details, I'd just be interested to know if anyone else was involved directly or otherwise.

Looked horrific from what I saw while stuck in traffic on the other carriageway.

The distance between the bridge and the debris (top of the cab / the actual cab) was significant.

Thoughts have to with the family of the driver at this difficult time.
