Hi all

Picking up a car on Sunday and the current owner has had window tints fitted. Now we aren't talking drug dealer full black out here but they aren't my cup of tea. Can anyone recommend someone local who can remove these? I know it's probably a relatively easy DIY job but I would rather have it done properly and not end up with half the tint left and scratched glass!

Cheers

can you not use a hairdryer to warm it up and peel it off?

I'm not sure hair dryers get the windows hot enough. I'd rather get it done properly as the back window has also been tinted and I don't want to mess up the elements.

Thank you! They are also in Ascot as well now by the looks of things and that is a little closer to me than Chertsey.

I've been quoted 4 to 5 hours to remove tints from all windows (obviously no tint on the windscreen) at £25ph + VAT.

The tint will come off quite easily with a hair dryer. I've assisted a few people at the road side to do it without the dryer too and its not too difficult once you get a bit done

You'll need some thinners/panel wipe to break down the adhesive once you get the film off. A strong possibility of the rear window to not work very well after removal.

Ive used a wallpaper steamer stripper before. It works a treat. Just get the edge cut, steam for a minute and slowly steam and peal. All glue comes clean off, and saved a fortune. No scracthes , just easy pealing.
