12 helicopters flying in convoy down the m4......

I just was this convoy about 30 minutes ago as I joined the M4 slip road. My wife is a big fan of airborne crafts so I try and keep a look out and let her know of anything unusual in the sky. It's the first time I've seen a convoy of helicopters and was just able to count approximately 12 whilst craning my neck to see behind as I was accelerating on the slip road. Three groups of 4 in diamond formation and with a small aircraft behind. Not sure if it was anything to do with the choppers.

Does anyone know what this is about? I've checked Google and can't find anything and would really like to know more. I believe the Olympic torch is en-route to Cornwall but I haven't read anything or been able to find anything plus I think that's happening later tonight.

Thank you very much. As you have pointed out, it's probably a practice run or preparations for that event.
What a cracking assortments of aircraft and just down the road. I'm going to find a nice viewing spot tomorrow.
