Thinking about watching the Windsor Flypast from here on Saturday, just wondered if it was still there and if so what facilities it had?

Are you refering to the cafe that is on the side going towards Farnham? If so I went past a few weeks ago and as far as I could tell it was open. Not sure what facities they offer there though.

I had thought about stopping somewhere high between Goodwood and Windsor but would probably miss the flypast!

Problem is you not see much from that side, you would have to cross over both carriageways and the central forest(wooded bit) to over look London.

I am guessing I would be taking my life in my hands? I beleive that they flyplast will be coming up from South so crossing the A31 (some where around that point)

There's a group of Z3 owners that are going to watch the takeoff and it's from somewhere in Lincoln area, so they will be coming from the North. Of course they may well come as far down as where you're planing on being, I guess it depends on the turning circle of the planes. smile

It's beleived to be something like this:

Form up to south east of I.O.W.

formation flies north to:
1. feet wet Selsey area
2.OTT Chichester > Goodwood (VOR)
3.Mishurst VOR
4.OTT Haslemere
5 OTT Elstead
6.OTT Pirbright
7.OTT Bisley
8.Windsor great park
9 VRP "The Long walk"
10. Windsor castle
11.Slough (BBMF may break off here)
12.between Beaconsfield and Gerrads Cross
13.OTT RAF Halton / Amersham (elements turn North west towards north of Princess Risborough)
14.after North of Princess Risborough they will turn west towards Oxford (OTT)
15.direct to Brize Norton (Formation breaks up)

Sounds like you know a lot more than me (not difficult wink )so you could well get a decent view without having to crossover the A31 then. I'll just have to watch it from the Bearwood Car Show, but I don't know if we'll see anything from there.

There's a bunch of trees around the cafe layby, but you could go into the field (just be aware of what you might find or come across in the field)

If the formation does Elstead -> Bisley -> pirbright you would get a better view on the northern side. Suppose you could always start on the south and carefully work yourself to the north. Will have a look tommorrow at the view for you. (if I get time!!!) wink

85 aircraft in two waves to Windsor for the jubilee.
9 typhoons at 1130 ( a bit before, that's when they arrive @ Windsor,) and rest an hour later,

I was basing my choice on view on this:

What time are they expected to go over the A31?

Might try and pop down if work is quiet

First part of the flypast is 11 I believe, so maybe 5 minutes before that over the A31, and the 2nd wave about 1230 so roughly 1220 maybe?
