So, they have cut the A331 down to one lane again!!! (between the Meadows and M3 J4)
Looks like its gonna be chaos for YET another week..... they close it for 2 months, open for a couple of weeks, then close it again!!!

Its only for this week and then it changes for the weekend!

ADVANCE NOTICE

There will be a temporary partial closure of Stanhope Road from 8 May until 13 May to lay essential power cables. This closure will have a major impact on traffic into and out of Yorktown Business Park and collateral impact on the Meadows Roundabout and the M3 Roundabout. The contractors have agreed to undertake the works in a way that will minimise the impact on traffic in and out of Yorktown as follows:

The work will be done in 2 Phases over 4/6 days.

Phase 1 will be trenching and installing cable ducting across the North slip road and inwards access to Stanhope Road - the North side of Stanhope Road.
This will prohibit left turn into Stanhope Road from the A30 direction and right turn out from Stanhope Road in the A30 direction.
Traffic from the M3 will be able to turn right into Stanhope road as now and traffic out from Stanhope road will be able to turn left onto the A331 towards the M3 as now.
We do not see this as very serious because vehicles going to the A30 will be able to go to the A30 through Tuscam Way and Yorktown Way adjacent Audi (Diversion sign will be required at Tuscam Way / Stanhope Road)
Phase 1 will start on Tuesday 8 May and complete on Friday 11 May.

Phase 2 will be trenching and installing cable ducting across the South slip road on to the A331 going towards the M3 and the outwards (South) lane from Stanhope Road.
This will prohibit right turns into Stanhope road from the M3 / A331 and Left out of Stanhope road to A331 and M3 whilst traffic to and from the A30 will be normal.
The proposal to divert traffic from the M3 around the Meadows roundabout and then in to Stanhope road from the North and towards the M3 out of Stanhope road and around the Meadows roundabout before going South past the Stanhope road junction will severely overload the Meadows roundabout.
To minimise the impact of HGV on the Meadows roundabout the phase 2 work will be done over the weekend when there will be minimal heavy goods traffic in and out of Yorktown.
Phase 2 will start on Friday night 11th May (after say 7 pm) or Saturday 12th May and be complete by Sunday night 13 May with everything back to normal by 7:30 on Monday 14 May.

The disruption to heavy traffic to and from Yorktown Business Park will be minimal disruption as there is very little business traffic on weekends.
