Summer road trip in UK

I'm considering a small road trip later this year, possibly July / Aug in the UK to drive some exciting / scenic roads. Nothing too costly, maybe even just a day or one night somewhere - at a weekend.

I would have posted in 'roads' thread but have posted here due to 3 below.

1. Has anyone done 'The Triangle' in Wales and is it worth it - i've hd a look at the Evo Link seems a long way to go for 30 mins loop, but guess you could do it several times!

2. Any other decent roads people have been on withn 150-200 mile radius of Oxford

3. Anyone else be interested in coming along?

P.s - driven from south wales through middle to Liverpool many times, but never Yorksire Moores.

The Evo Triangle is a pretty cool road but I wouldn't say it was just that 30 minute loop. Pretty much the rest of the A5 is superb too
I just did North Wales this weekend. It was great fun and I got some nice pictures too

The A4069 in the Black mountains is a cracking road, including the hairpin that top gear love to film on. Great on a quiet summers morning

There are loads of good roads off the main A40 between Oxford and Cheltenham.

Wales is a good shout - have a quick look at this and it should give you some ideas

Evo triangle is worth a run in each direction, watch out on the A5 though because it's well policed.
Black Mountain section (Llangadog to Brynamman) is wonderful - the road from Llangadog to the mountain (southbound) is sinuous and technical and a great warm up for the ascent up the tight side of the mountain. The descent down to Brynamman is more open, flowing, and fast.
Another popular area for scenery and roads is around Bala Lake.

I used to live about 2 miles from Brynamman and can confirm that is a great road to drive! Never got the chance to drive it in a Lotus though so, may have to return for a visit sometime...
