The company I work for needs somebody who is happy to drive to Brno in the Czech Republic, stop over for a couple of nights and then drive back.

All expenses will be paid (fuel, lodging and a daily rate for food) and maybe a small fee for going.

If there is anybody who would like to do this, you will need to be able to be free over the following dates:

It needs to leave West London on Friday 18th May so that it’s in the Czech Republic for Wednesday 23rd May. It’s needed for a job on Friday 25th May. It then has to come back in West London in time for Thursday 31st May AM.

The kit is some fragile broadcast gear, which shouldn't really be flown so will be best in a car.

I know it's not the greatest deal in the world, but it could be a nice enough way to spend a few days and you get a little break in Brno for nowt.

I'm speaking to a couple of other people, so it's still a little up in the air, but I thought that somebody here might fancy it.

Would that be in a supplied car or an owners car and if an owners car how big would it need to be?

Either supplied or owners, it would need to a bit bigger than an MX5 I'd think. Something like a Fiesta / Focus would be big enough.

LOL, yes, I wasn't thinking of the MX5. Problem there is that my other car is a Mini so the boot isn't much better laugh

So are you away from the 18th to the 31st?

Would said broadcast gear fit in an impreza?

Wow! Wasn't expecting this sort of interest smile

We might have somebody (another PHer), but the timings he can do are cutting it a little fine. I just need to check a couple of things on my side before I can confirm either way.

Erm being a bit nosey but what is it that can't go on a plane?

We transport stuff all over the place and never had a problem yet. I've even broken down cameras and taken them on as hand luggage (security is fun).

Most of our stuff goes in Peli Cases and we've never had anything broken yet.

It's a camera head and lens attachment for virtual graphics systems. They are quite delicate, but I'm not 100% sure we need to be so worried. I'm just helping out another one of our offices.

I didn't want to post that but it did cross my mind.

Now, who wants a free road trip to Thailand? I've got a nice 24" porcelain cat that would get ruined in air freight...
