I need a recommendation

Good evening all!
So I was driving up in the mountains recently and in the snow I managed to have a bit of an off in my e28 BMW - now my poor little car is going to be in the shop. Meanwhile, I find myself moving down to Santa Fe, and in need of transport. But I couldn't call myself a petrolhead if I got any old hum-drum vehicle and called it a day.
So I turn to you for recommendations. I'm looking for something that is reasonably practical (so sadly I need at least 4 seats) reasonably efficient (my 528 regularly posts MPGs in the low 30s, so something in the 25-30 MPG range would be good) and above all, fun to drive. Now, I'm used to rear wheel drive, and I'd like to narrow my search to RWD cars (though I'm not averse to all wheel- or front wheel drive cars, so long as they're proper driver's cars), and I'm looking to spend no more than $10k and if possible less. I've been looking into e30 and e36 M3s, classic Minis, and the odd Volvo 240 or SAAB 99. What else should I be looking at? Are there any great finds in my price range?
