Hello all,

This is my honeymoon so important to get right. I value Pistonheads very much and thought that Pistonheads members maybe able to advise me.

I'm going from San Francisco to LA from 28 March until the 5 April (ish - we can be flexible).

I shall be with my new wife and looking for something sporty. Have looked into some of the cars I like and they seem very expensive compared to normal cars ie: from £2000 for Boxster or £400 for normalish car.
The problem is that like you I'm a big petrolhead.

Open to suggestions as to where I should go and ideally where I can get a reasonably priced car that makes us feel that we're on honeymoon!

All your (Reasonable) thoughts very much appreciated as I seem to have drawn a blank and the time is approaching rather fast.

Cheers

James

Your prices seem a bit high - I'm renting a Corvette from Hertz in San Diego in March and it's $500ish for 4 days. Have you looked at Hertz and Avis? They also give you discounts if you use an Amex card - https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/partner/index.jsp?t...

For car rental try ebookers.com

I had a Mustang convertible for 12 days in Oct in California for about £300 all inclusive and with a tank of gas. There's usually no one way charge for rentals within CA - not with Thrifty and Budget for sure.

I had a Cadillac DTS 4.7L v8 recently, was on special at hertz in November, try booking from the UK as all insurance should be included, rate code WOW seemed to be the best deal at the time cost me around £300 for 1.5 weeks unlimited miles. Which was handy as I did 1700 from SF to LA LV Death valley and back.

It was not a corvette by any means but sounded awesome and shifted nicely.
