I was wondering how many, if any, PHers are in the Mid-Atlantic region, namely near Washington D.C.? I live a stone's throw from the Capitol in Northern Virginia and go to a lot of car shows between here and Pennsylvania, and it would be cool if I've seen a fellow PHer and not even known it.

We've got some great shows here in the East, and if the names Hershey, Carlisle, Macungie, or Ocean City ring a bell, speak up!

I'm just north of DC in Maryland but haven't ventured out to the car shows yet. I am going to the Baltimore 'Grand Prix' later in the year though.

I may just have to go to that as well. The last time a road race was held in this area was an American LeMans series race in the streets of D.C. back in 2000, but sadly I missed that. frown

There are a couple good shows in Maryland including a great antique car show in Rockville in the fall, and one in Damascus. If you're in central Maryland, you should check out www.carlisleevents.com. Carlisle is a town in PA that holds epic shows at their fairgrounds (in fact, the fairgrounds only holds car shows). There's two massive swap meets there per year, one in late April, and again in the fall, plus there are major shows for each of the big three throughout the summer, plus a truck show and a motorcycle one. Fancy Corvettes? They have a show dedicated just to them with thousands of them! Plan to go on a Saturday, as Friday is usually smaller and everyone leaves really early on Sunday. It's easy to get to as well, just take Rt. 15 North and it will take you almost all the way there. I-81 also goes right through town.

I live in DC, haven't been to any car shows though. Was planning on going to the ALMS/IndyCar double header in Baltimore but it's the same weekend my sister's getting married and we'll be in France frown

Going out a week earlier so we can go to the Belgian GP instead! biggrin

If there's any interest, perhaps we should arrange a karting meet at Allsports out near Dulles?

I live about 5 minutes from that place if it's the one I'm thinking of! Right off of Cascades Parkway near Dulles Town Center mall in a kind of warehousey building. Is that the place you're talking about?

I've looked into going there years ago but decided it's a bit pricey for my tastes. On the other hand, there's a great "cruise-in" car show every Friday night (about 5pm-9pm) at the Chik-fil-A in front of Lowes about two blocks from the karting place. It starts up in April and I'm almost always there.

If you're into more exotic stuff, Katie's Cars and Coffee is in Great Falls on Georgetown Pike right in front of The Old Brogue Irish pub. That should also start in April, but plan to wake up early; it's at 7am and everybody's usually gone by 9:30. It is WELL worth it, though! Dozens of Ferrari's, old and new including at least one F40 that's usually there, plus Lamborghinis, Porsches, Shelbys (mostly Cobra replicas but occasionally a real one and often a GT350 Mustang). There was a man with a real vintage Bugatti there last year! You never know what you'll see!

I'd be interested. Useless in a kart though!

There's currently a Groupon for the Summit Point Kart track: http://www.groupon.com/deals/summit-point-kart?c=d...

Only a day and half left though, but I believe my wife bought one - if there's less interest in Allsports we could try and arrange a karting session there (although not for a couple of months as I'm swamped and also preparing for the ChumpCar race at Road America at the end of next month).
