I am interested in immigrating from the UK to USA but I really don't know where to start.

Can anyone recommend web links to start reading etc?

Also, health care is a huge issue. My partner has had a kidney transplant and HAS to make sure her/our health insurance is spot on, so any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to reading your replies.

Cheers.

Before I came out to the USA I read the following book:-

http://www.amazon.com/Living-Working-America-7th-S...

It is a useful read and covers the types of visa available etc.

The USA is unbelieveably strict on visas and doesn't recognise partners, just spouses.

You will need to either come as an investor or have a sponsor, and that is not easy, particularly in a down economy.

Insurance coverage of pre-existing conditions is variable from state to state but the healthcare in the USA is extremely good if you can get insurance.

I bought my book from Waterstones, I suggest you do the same. Read and then ask questions as they crop up.

Have a look at this link, it will give you an idea if you fit into any of the categories for obtaining a Visa:
