Yep, it's been nearly 20 years since I was last in the US of A but have just booked a flight for a lads/middle aged men trip to New York in March.

Quite excited as I have never been to NY as I spent my previous visits doing road trips through California, Nevada and Arizona with the obligatory visit to Tijuana, plus a holiday in Florida travelling down to Key West.

Now the Esta application needs the address of where I am staying, which is unknown at the moment. Should I just stick the address of any old hotel in or wait until I am booked and confirmed at a place to stay?

Cheers

As you don't need to complete the ESTA until nearer your travel time, my advice would be to wait until you have your first night sorted out (as that's all that's needed for the form).

Thank you, it's all coming back to me now as when I went in '91 we put the first night in SF down as from then on, we were on the road.

Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciero, I believe it was with a quick 24 hours in a '69 Mustang 'vert V8 for cruising around LA.

Ahh! Happy Days.

Once again cheers.

No it doesn't - you can leave it blank. Make sure you keep a note of the number - once you get to the end it all disappears and you can't print it out. Then you can go back in and amend it for this, or future, trips.

It's worth doing the ESTA as late as possible though as they expire after 2 yrs.

Just thought that I would mention that I have never put the address on an ESTA. I just apply without the address, I have never then logged back in to add the address for any trip.

I always imagine some guy with a grenade launcher strapped to his back, scratching his beard and pondering which box to tick.

I suppose its there in case something comes to light later, and if they hadn't asked you when you entered the country, probably would carry much weight, on the other hand when you were, and say no, your in deep ste.

That's what it's for. On the terms you agree to if you answer something they later find out to be incorrect then you can face deportation and/or criminal charges.
