Hello hello! I live in the US, and I've been trying to get my hands on one of the earlier models of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (I - IV). The problem here is, from what I understand, the first 7 models of the car were never released in this country and to get one, I would have to import it from either the UK or Japan. I've looked into the importation laws a little bit and it doesn't seem like it would cause too much trouble. My question is, how would I go about importing the car? Are there any companies that specialize in this sort of thing? And about how much would it cost to do so?

I'm no expert but I think this is possibly not only the reason you have to import one but also the reason you won't be able to import one. Have a look at CBP website.

"If vehicles manufactured abroad conform to U.S. safety, bumper, and emission standards, it is because these vehicles are exported for sale in the United States. Therefore, it is unlikely that a vehicle obtained abroad meets all relevant standards. Be skeptical of claims by a foreign dealer or other seller that a vehicle meets these standards or can readily be brought into compliance. Vehicles entering the United States that do not conform with U.S. safety standards must be brought into compliance, exported, or destroyed."
