Good morning US Breathren!! A quick question. A girlfriend wants to ship her car from Calabasis (Los Angeles) to Birmingham AL. She has been quotes 900 bucks one way but needs to know if this sounds a fair rate door to door.

Anybody had any experience of long distance transportation for a small SUV, Toyota RAV 4?

That's sound about right. I bought a Jaguar XJS in Ca and had it shipped to South Carolina in 2007 and it was about 1000 to 1200 dollars if my memory serves. That was transporting it on an open transporter so it arrived quite dirty. It took 1-2 weeks I think.
Then I had a Daimler SP250 shipped from Toronto to South Carolina. That was shipped in a closed truck, a professional car shipping company, and that was about 1400 dollars in 2008.

Others may have more up to date numbers.
