Blimey... that was easy. One left, two rights, straight back into the DMV centre and into a parking spot - no reverse parking or manouvers of any description whatsoever. If I said I was driving for 5 minutes that would probably be overstating it.

I believe here in Florida we have the simplest driving test and some of the people with cars terrify me....young and old.

Florida...

not uncommon.

Although they are usually driving the "official OAP Florida car" - Mercury Marquis.

Our Service Manager moved from the UK to our PA plant and had to have a US test.
He said the same, so easy but the Inspector did say it was very much a case of going thsough the motions for some one who had over 20 years driving experience.
One my other collegues is over from Germany for 2 years and has just taken a Motor Bike lessons and test and said it was thorough but inexpensive.

In NJ, you just have to take the mutiple choice test, not the practical, to convert a UK licence. A colleague of mine still failed twice.
In CO, I drove for about 20 minutes. The only pain was borrowing a colleagues car and getting insured on it.

Test in Iowa was both multiple choice theory and then a practical. Ten minute drive, including a reverse park. I executed the worse reverse park I've ever done and ended up a good two foot from the kerb. Instructress opened the door and said 'perfect, if only everybody could drive like you Brits'. biggrin

My father failed his PA test, to his enormous embarrassment. Fortunately they let him do it again the same afternoon and he passed that time. I imagine he wasn't taking it seriously, given that it was on a "toy" layout behind the test centre. He'd been driving in the UK over 30 years.

I recently passed the theory test here in Massachusetts, which wasn't as easy as I was expecting. Quite a few questions about the length of licence suspension/size of the fine for various driving offences.

Got the practical booked for the 19th of this month smile

So sorry, I didn't create the artwork - I merely lifted it directly from my daughters Facebook page. Nor did i check it for authenticity - an unforgivable error. Come to think of it, I suspect the signature and DOB may be wrong too. What an utter disgrace.

Maybe the original artist was drunk when they created that text...

Just passed my Indiana test! Passed the written test on Sat with 100% but I was nervous as hell today for the "skills test". So more years than I care to remember after passing the UK test I am now a legally licensed Indiana driver and can finally buy a decent car and not have to drive around in Mrs U's Hyundai. biggrin

Nope. Try as I might, I just cannot fathom the relevance of this, in the context of the thread.

I remember doing my US test (almost 10 years ago now).....in a Miata that I'd never driven with a pretty much broken clutch.

Examiner was far more interested in my accent than anything else LOL, it was just sooooo easy.

As for my bike licence - that was almost as easy - you don't even get out on to the road for that one (at least not in CO) eek
