Hi just looking for some ideas

I am thinking of planning to trip to the US this year and wont to incorporate some different events, first my son is into BMX bike riding and would like to have a long weekend stay at a skate park. Second I would like to take in a big custom/hotrod show or some Drag race. Then I think I should take in some sightseeing for the wife !
We have been to California in the past and enjoyed each time, not sure if Florida would meet all of the above
Welcome any input
Thanks

The USA is a big place and each region has so much to see and enjoy. I am in west Florida but no drag racing here and the scenery beyond silicone boobs is somewhat uninspiring!

Drag racing information is available on the NHRA website and has a 2010 schedule.

Depending upon your timetable Arizona is a great place to visit, Vegas is fun too, northern California is great and North Carolina has some top beaches and a huge motorsport following.

BMX over here is dirt bike racing and look on the ababmx.com site for more information.

Colorado has the scenery and top mountain biking as does Wyoming.

What makes a good family holiday, how much travelling do you want to undertake and what is your overall budget so that airfares / hotels / car hire / motorhome hire etc can all be taken into account?

Am happy to make suggestions but need additional information.

NHRA Gatornats at Gainesville FL in March. One of the biggest, baddest meets on the NHRA calendar.

Moroso Motorsports Park, near Jupiter FL also hosts regular sanctioned meets.

Orlando Speedworld at Bithlo FL has RWYB every Friday evening from Feb - a little 'hokey' but very competitive.

Also bear in mind:
Rolex 24 at Daytona (Grand Am)
Daytona 500 (NASCAR)
Daytona 200 (AMA Superbike)
12 Hours of Sebring (ALMS)
Honda Grand Prix of St. Pete (Indycar)

All before the end of March. We ain't short of motorsport.
There's a Vans skate-park on N. I-Drive, Orlando and nice beaches at Cocoa (45 miles east) and Clearwater (70 miles west).
Not much in the way of culture or spectacular scenery, however (unless you include Bike-Week, which has it's fair share of both, but possibly not what you had in mind).

Thanks for all the replies
We have California/ Arizona twice, Vegas, lake Tahoe, Sacramento, LA and San fran .
The sport my son is into bike riding in skate parks, tricks, jumps ect. Would like him to experience some sort of camp adventure with possible tuition, 2 or 3 days ( I know of a park called woodward )
On our past visits we have just booked the flight and sorted a hire car once arrived, travelling around and booking into hotels as required. This gives us the freedom we like.
We need to fit the visit in between July and September for a period of two weeks. I don’t mind travelling but would like to limit to about 2/3 hours between locations.

New Mexico has the scenery and weather, but can be somewhat quiet on the car front. I would pump for North Carolina, great beaches, cars, there must be some BMX jump parks there and good food. Fly into Charlotte or Raleigh Durham, explore the hills, hit the beach resorts, race tracks galore and not expensive.
