Carfax - On a motorcycle....

I just wondered if someone could give me a bit of info or insight into a Carfax report I ran this morning.

I'm looking to purchase a motorcycle (2000 model) from a guy a fair distance away, he sent me the VIN to run a Carfax.....so I ran it this morning - and it essentially came up with 3 records.

When I looked at the report they were showing essentially a state inspection & 2 x emissions tests (1 x failure & 1 x pass) in 2009 and no other records!

Has anyone got any insight into this - is it something to be wary of, or is it just poor reporting by Carfax? The bike in question looks low mileage & very very clean on the pictures.....but I don't understand the lack of history.

Carfax is pretty useless for bikes, I have heard very few accidents are reported on there, even worse, very few bikes are actually registered on the site. Since yours is and its come up with three records, I'd consider that to be better than most.

If it were me and its too far to travel, get the seller to take it a dealer and get them to inspect it, might cost you something but its going to be worth it in the end.
