UK Landlord - US property
Discussion
I assume you are aware that US houses are usually timberstuds.
US houses need a lot more maint. than a UK one.
The US domestic housing is marking time at present difficult to say which way it will go.
The houseing starts are low, that should soak up a lot of the "for sales".
However the commercial market hasn't missed a beat.
Are you looking for rental income or CG (probably both )
If just CG, then I think a REIT might be better, they have started to go up. Much easier to dispose of too.
Yes morts are avail to non US citizens.

Given that the housing market over here is only starting to go into meltdown, I don't know that investing in it is such a good move.
But no harm in getting prepared. Sell at the peak of the UK market, convert pounds to dollars at a high, then buy when the US market is at a low.Gassing Station | USA & Canada | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
