Hi All,

I am posting this in the USA section, as it's the closest there is to a Mexican one!

Basically, My wife and I have decided to go for a fortnight in Mexico next year, and we are starting our research now...

It's a big country, but we are looking for a nice, quiet, family friendly coastal resort, with stunning beaches and good swimming ideally... We have 2 young kids, so that's a big consideration too.

We've chosen Mexico partly because my wife and I are borderline addicted to Mexican food, so good local grub is essential.

Recommendations for a region or even a hotel would be much appreciated!!

Lastly, the one thing we dont want is for the place to be full of people wearing soccer shirts eating egg and chips (or whatever the North American equivalent is!!)

Many thanks

I've been to Cancun... and whilst it was great for getting pi55ed up, it wasnt my idea of a quiet family place...

I was really after somewhere a bit less party and more relaxing...

cheers

Cancun very much depends on the time of year you go to be honest.
At the quiet times of year it's got a lot more to offer than the party atmospheres of the more busy times of the year, something for everyone if you know when you're looking to go.

I've now bought the lonely planet guide and Bahias de Huatulco is looking like a winner...
