riding holiday in the U.S.
Discussion
I figured this would probably be the best place to ask this.........
if you were a brit planning an 8-9 day riding holiday, where would you go for the best views, roads, experience?
i fancy the pacific coast, simply because it looks beautiful......any thoughts greatly appreciated!
thanks

I'm not American, but did ride a motorbike across the US and Canada twice.
The short answer is anywhere! The country is blessed with beautiful roads and scenery.
On a short trip as yours, you would be hard pressed to beat what California has to offer. The coastal road ( Highway 1 or 101? ) is a biker's or sportscar driver's dream.
You can then move east and take on the parks like Yosemite and why not Vegas, the Grand Canyon? Vegas is a dump ( unless you like gamblig of course ) but the drive there can be incredible.
Utah - wow, like being on Mars. Red, red roads and mind boggling scenery.
It is such an easy country to travel in, too. Motels are plentiful and often cheap outside of weekends or town events, and the signposting is second to none.
Incredibly hospitable and friendly people, too.
My advice - GO! Marvellous country.

Hey Chris,
Well I am a Brit who moved to the Pacific coast and I can recommend coming here. Its been a great experiance to drive up Highway One, just make sure its not the rainy season (Jan/Feb/Mar) as they close it when the road starts to fall in to the ocean . Plus you can then continue all the way up, through Oregon and on to Washington, esp Seattle, even Vancouver if your lucky. Its a trip I am planning to take in the future!
