I've got a '93 Buick Riviera, and the SES (Service Engine Soon) light comes on intermittently. There's no consistency whatsoever to when it comes on/off.

Does anyone know how to a memory re-set or a SES re-set on the Riviera?

I've googled but found no useful info (strangely).

Many thanks in advance,

Have you considered having it serviced?

yes, I have had it serviced - by a local guy - but he does not have access to any of the hardware required.

I hasten to add I'm in the UK, not in the US.

Just pop along to a diagnostics place, and they can plug in, and switch it off.

I have tried a few places - but as soon as they see the car - they say no. I guess for any standard UK car then it's not a problem .... but a car they've probably never seen before .....

I'm quite happy to do it myself, if I knew how ....

Kinky, I'm not sure if that model has 12 or 16 pin DLC connector. If it is a 12 pin see here for how to jumper the connector and retrieve flash codes.

OBDI cars have a volatile memory so just disconnect the negative battery terminal for 2 minutes to turn off the light. Of course if the car has a fault the light will come back on.
