Bullitt Mustag:. Buy new or wait for hype/price to die down?
Discussion
I moved to the US in 2016, and have considered a few muscle cars, but at the start of this yr the Bullitt Mustang release ticked all my boxes. I have done my research and luckily have a few friends at work who have brought me up to speed on muscle cars, and Mustangs in particular. With that in mind, a brand new Bullitt Mustang in the spec I'd want (Recaro's and Magnaride) is north of $50k, which is a lot of money for a 'stang.
The hype surrounding them has been incredible, with many dealers asking for a 5-20!)k ADM while trying to sell them as a limited production car, whereas in reality they are a limited EDITION (19 and 20 MY's). Realistically it would be a push for me to buy brand new, but at the same time I wouldnt want to miss out on my dream car if they become so 'collectible' that few are offered on the used market.
My consoling thought is given the aggressive marketing by Ford on this edition of Bullitt compared to the 01 and 08 models, they will in theory sell more, leaving plenty of choice for reasonable money on the 2-3yr old used market. Thoughts?

I think you answered your question on the limited production vs limited edition bit. I wouldn’t bust myself to get in to an early version of a car they’ll be making for 2 years. Maybe give it 8-10 months and see what happens. Dealers will probably see they’re hot, buy a bunch of them and then (hopefully) have them sat on their lot for a bit, which is when you show up.
The other question is, what does the bullitt have that a nicely specced non-bullitt doesn’t have? Is it worth it and have you browsed the used market.
I have absolutely no idea, but, where does the Shelby Mustang market start?

I agree, I'm going to wait until near the end of the production run before I even look, so plenty of time yet. The other question is, what does the bullitt have that a nicely specced non-bullitt doesn’t have? Is it worth it and have you browsed the used market.

The Bullitt is a Premium GT with the PP1 package. The main benefits for me are the pedigree (it has a number of unique features including being the only Mustang available in what is basically British Racing Green) and I've always loved the move and history of the Bullitt brand. No used cars available yet as it has only just entered production. I've considered a GT350 which if Bullitt's stay stupidly high I will get one of those.
Thanks for your reply
Matt Farah seems to echo the sentiments on pricing and the Bullitt vs 350.
