a week in New Hampshire then 2 day drive to NY - where to go

Next fall we (wife and I) are spending 3 weeks in the states - staying 7 days in Warner NH then driving down to (near) NewYork and on to Baltimore/Washington

This will coincide with the NASCAR race at Concorde but also looking for other day trips out.

Will then drive to drop the car off in or near New York taking a couple of days so would also like some recommendations for route / stay / eating
