Just found this:

www.americancarimports.co.uk/stock/detailedInfo/2006CamaroConcept.asp

(sorry, techno-feebleness means I cant post a pic)

I think it looks awesome. Any of you chaps from the States know any more care to shed some light?

engine/suspension/brakes specs?
weight?
cost?
Is it likely to get produced?

Since GM had announced the demise of the Camaro and its sister car the Firebird, because the Mustang had dominated the pony car market, I figured it would be only a matter of time before they would bring something out to replace it and try again to compete against the Mustang.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if this will really materalize but, you're right, it's a good looking concept.

Haven't heard of it but why not... everyone else is on a retro kick. Looks like an updated 60s front and a vette back. Could be interesting.

Should be interesting too see if they actually make it or not. It's not bad looking at all though.

That is a cool looking concept. Not my ideal vision of the next generation camaro though. Gotta love the color choice!

If you guys read the article attached to the pictures you will see that that is one person's idea of what a new camaro might look like. GM has nothing to do with it, so it will never get built. Sorry....

Whilst this rendition has been round for some years, it seems fairly sure that the Camaro is coming back in 2007 and it seems to be rife that the styling will be based upon the 67-69 first generation Camaro.

The Americans have already butchered the Pontiac GTO name and seem about to do the same with the Chevelle by making a different version of the Monaro so at least we can rest easy that the new Camaro won't be a reshelled Monaro.

Whilst this remains a whisper, there have been many whispers which have come along right on schedule.

the camaro probably wont be coming back in 2007, as GM has cancelled the zeta platform (in the US anyway) to divert attention to squeeze the last drops out of the failing SUV market. My bets are we'll see a v8 rwd pony car in 2010. If we're lucky.
