Did anyone see Wheeler Dealers on the Velocity channel last night? They bought a Boxster S tiptronic for a thousand pounds! It had been sitting for about 4 years and had brake and gearbox issues, and was clearly a gamble. But Ed pulled it off again. Transmission fluid and filter change, seemed to fix it.

My point? Can you get a Boxster S in similar condition in the US for that kind of money? Say $1,500? My experience probably says no way. I was just blown away at how cheaply he got the car. OK, so I know its television.

Watched it this weekend, and thought the same thing. No, I don't think you could get one for that cheap over here; used cars in general are a lot more expensive and presumably it's worth more than $1500 as parts?

Maybe mentioned before, but they NEVER reveal how many miles these cars have on them. I wonder if that is also a factor is the price allegedly paid for the cars in this series. I also read somewhere (on here possibly) that all of the supposed 'buyers', (who's negotiation skills seem quite laughable - "Meet me in the middle? - Hold out yer 'and son") are all in fact members of the show's production team.
Mike Brewer is quite endearing though - despite the fact that he can't pronounce words like 'wheels' (Whiws) and 'world' (Wewd).
