Coming over to newport in july to see some family and do a bit of a road trip, routes already planned we just need to arrange a car, ideally want a Camaro SS or a Mustang GT500. (something yank and V8)

There will be two drivers one of 50 and one of 21, so insuarance could be a sticking point, looked into all the major companies and they will take someone of 21 but there is a insurance premium which there is so issue with!

Just wondering if anyone was local to the area and could maybe recommend a smaller local company with some nicer rental's as apposed to the likes of dollar etc.

Hi Kyle
Not RI based, but rent frequently all over North America. Hertz or Avis are the two mainstream rental companies that can offer you something similar to your desired selection (no GT500 though). Smaller renters are going to be a LOT more expensive and won't insure the 21 year old.

i'll have a look into them and see, i thought it might work out cheaper with a smaller garage as im looking at milage limitations and fees aswel as we are doing a fair few miles.

Thanks for the advice

Kyle.

Which ever way you slice it, you are going to get thumped in the wallet with a 21 year old driving. The low cost renters, (Alamo, Thrifty, Dollar etc) don't have cars like those you mention. Hertz and Avis don't hit you for miles - but one-ways are really expensive (if even offered up there). This won't be cheap if the nipper's driving.

Finding something like a Camero SS or GT500 rental in RI is going to be a tough task. Hertz usually keeps those kind of vehicles to their largest hubs, and doing a one way rental is usually a no no. There might even be restrictions on taking that class of car out of State.
