I have got a lot of Marriott Reward points which are due to expire soon which I can use for goods, hotels and flights etc

Now if I use them on the UK rewards site there is nothing I really want from their catalogue and the points do not go very far (and no option to top up the points).

Now if I use them on the US site they points go almost twice as far and there is approx £450 worth to use on all manner of things, iPads, home furnishings and appliances, electronics, the lot.

Would anyone be willing to help me out by bringing an iPad bought with them back to the UK, or alternatively if you want to order something in the US with them I am sure we can come to some arrangement. They say delivery can take 4-6 weeks so if anyone is coming over to the UK in the next 3 months or so that would be great.

I will probably be making a trip or two from Florida back to the UK in either Feb or March so can help. Just make sure the Ipad is still in the box and sealed please.

How about iPad removed, box filled to the brim with cocaine, heroin, C4 and a handgun, then resealed using the same polythene so it looks factory fresh?

I can't believe someone would seriously consider asking someone on the internet to take a parcel on a plane with them, and said person actually agreeing to take the parcel. Do you guys know each other? Have you met?

100% agree. When check-in security asks if there is anything in your possession that does not belong to you - and has anyone asked you to transport anything for them, what's the answer going to be?
Who's going to be responsible for the import duty? (Answer: The sucker who carries it).
What happens if you send the goods to your US based 'courier' and that's the last you hear of the product and the volunteer?
This is the most bizarre and ill-conceived ass-clownery ever.

There's no problem carrying something for someone else unless there is something dodgy in there! If there is any tax to pay of course I would pay it.

I've done this and had it done for me numerous times.
All I've done is opened the boxes and made sure that the item is what it's supposed to be, never had any issues.

I love how suspicious the English have become. Is the Uk now full of terrorists or is there no trust after Tony Blair raped you all? For heavens sake people. I spend my life bringing back stuff for friends who have ordered items online, car parts, detailing equipment, laptops etc....its called friendship!! Some of you may be lacking these!

"Is there anything in your luggage that does not belong to you?" The truthful answer would be "yes"

"Has anybody asked you to carry anything on board the aircraft on their behalf?" The truthful answer would be "yes"

The next question is likely to be, "How is the other party known to you?" The truthful answer is....? ("He isn't - he asked me via an internet forum").

I'm sure all of this is perfectly well-intentioned. Whether or not the airline security personnel and the TSA will see it that way remains to be seen. However friendly a gesture this is - unless you lie to the security officials (which I can only speculate about) you are going to have a lot of explaining to do - and the goods in question will undoubtedly be forfeit (of only temporarily).

A far more simple and honest way to do this is to have your US contact mail the product to you, with the appropriate paperwork and duty paid (seeing as you were going to pay it anyway).

I think if it was delivered directly from a retailer to a person in the US then they could reasonably claim it belongs to them, and they were bringing it as a present.

Even if you didn't want to do that, then I don't see that explaining it came directly from the retailer and had never been in anyone else's hands would be a massive problem. Lots of people must carry stuff for others and they can't all be smart/devious enough to give suitable answers.

I would want to open it beforehand though - not sure I'd be comfortable with it being opened for the first time in front of me!

Read my edit above back to yourself. Now do you understand the context? Perhaps you should read things a little more thoroughly before posting your ridiculous ranting. This is why in a previous post I asked if you guys have ever met?

I live in the USA and if a trusted friend or family member asked me to bring something over for them, I will do, and have done several times. If some random bloke on the internet asks me the same thing, regardless of their probably good intentions, you can guess what my response will be.
