The plan fly to Las Vegas Friday the 3 of May. Saturday 4 of May monster energy supercross at Sam Boyd stadium. Sunday or Monday drive to Laguna seca for the Alms race there on the 11 of May. Next on to Sacramento for the first round of the ama motocross outdoor nationals this is on the 18 of may(Saturday). This is where I need some help I would like to see lots of cool stuff on the way to these races.
The list so far is
Hoover dam
Hot rod shops in LA
Drag racing museum
Route 66 museum
Edwards air force base
Yosemite/Sequoia parks
Race car/bike shops
This should give you an idea any suggestion would be most welcome.

Some interesting museums (all good)-
Los Angeles area -
http://justicebrothers.com/racing_museum.html
http://petersen.org/
http://www.museum.nhra.com/

Las Vegas
Imperial Palace car collection

If you are intending seeing the grand canyon - fly (in a plane - not a helicopter) you will see a lot more

pm me for any more specific info - I go to LA/Las Vegas every year in connection with drag racing.

There is a very good muscle car museum in Pigeon Forge, home of Dollywood.....
Thoroughly reccomend taking a Rough Guide to the USA.

I would have missed so much without mine in the last few trips.

Have covered most of the areas you'll be passing through on one road trip or another over the years.

In no particular order

spend some time on the Vegas strip - even if you're not a gambler, the casinos are well worth a look
take a helicopter trip into the grand canyon, amazing views and well worth the cash.
do the advanced tour at the hoover dam, it's much more in depth and interesting than the standard tour.
Hearst Castle - even if you have to sidetrack to get here / ignore everything else I say, do Hearst.... I'll fly back one day just to go there, it's that good.
As you have a car, head out to Death Valley
drive along highway 1 with the windows down and music up - it's a cliche for a reason.
17 mile drive at monterrey - only if the weather's decent

Check out www.roadtripamerica.com for more ideas (you'll find trip reports for most of my trips on there for a start)

It seems you are into motorbikes, so here is my 2 cents worth in Vegas. I went to Vegas in 2004 and I'm not a gambler, so me and the missus did a quad bike group ride out in the Red Rock Canyon area. There are probably a few tour guides/companies, look some up. We got picked up at our hotel and bussed out to the location, got kitted up, clothing and bikes, they provided a lunch and off we went into the desert. Great fun, good pace at times but not too taxing.

There is also a pretty good car museum in one of the casinos. Worth an hour or 2. I think its free too.

The Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace - there's a metro stop right outside and yes, it's definately worth an hour or two... all the cars are for sale as well, interesting to see the prices asked for some of them.

If you get chance hire a boat on Lake Mead, the V8 is great fun.
Half hour from Vegas on the left before the Hoover Dam.
You can actually cruise up to within a few hundred meters of the Dam.
It's a must-do every time we go.

be aware some of the roads in Yosemite may still be closed (very high covered in snow) which may change which order you do things in. Google Tigoa pass to see, 3 times the height of snowdon, very nice drive.. But if its closed you would have to enter Yosemite from the west side, and would have to drive around the mountain range to get there which is ok if you have the time

while in LA there is the Peterson Museum http://petersen.org/ lots of interesting cars in there, also its next to the la brea tar pits which are an interesting aside..

As mentioned route 1 is excellent and worth a drive.. I also agree with the Hoover dam and death valley advice both really interesting!

Also although you may not be able to see a car from horizon to horizon in some places look out for Cessnas in the sky the police check you speed from planes and will send someone to have a word if you are taking the piss :-)

Thankfully they weren't seen over the top of 95 when I was trying to reach terminal velocity in the 350z roadster I'd hired, a cracking piece of road without a car in sight proved just too tempting lol
